The government of Singapore rebuked its national men’s water polo team last week for designing and wearing “inappropriate” swim trunks at the Asian Games held in Guangzhou, China.
The red trunks featured a crescent moon on the crotch area with 5 stars on the side, a design similar to that of the conservative city-state’s national flag.
The trunks sparked a controversy both in Singapore’s local media and the Internet, particularly over the “suggestive” positioning of the crescent moon over the male genitals.
Singapore’s Ministry of Information does have a point about this. Check out the YouTube video below to see for yourself.
