Muay Thai Training – More Than A Combat Sport

Muay Thai (Thai boxing) is considered to be one of the oldest martial arts skills. It is also known as “Eight Limbs Skill” because besides using the legs and the hands you can also use the knees and elbows. This is one of the reasons why this sport is popular in Thailand and all over the world. It is worth mentioning that because of the high risk of injuries due to to the use of elbows and knees, Muay Thai is considered to be one of the toughest combat sports.

This sort is more than ordinary game in Thailand. Thai people perform special rituals before the matches begin. Before the match starts, fighters get on their knees and prey, mentioning their teacher. After that they perform a slow dance, raising the tension and the match can begin.

Because of the continuous conflicts among people of Southeast Asia in the past, Thais had to develop some fighting skills and that’s how Muay Thai emerged. The training process from Suwit muay thai training gym is easy and all that people needed is regular exercise. There are some historical sources mentioning Thai boxing in 16th century. The interesting part is that the first recorded match was between the Thai king Naresuan and the Burmese king in order to avoid casualties on the field. Naresuan won the match and the Burmese warriors left.

Today Muay Thai is not a combat skill it is sport and a little bit more. Since the beginning of 20th century people can watch Muay Thai matches every day such as Suwit muay thai stadium . There are specialized arenas where fighters are training and preparing for their matches and Muay Thai is one of the most popular sports in Thailand. People who participate in these fights must be trained well and have to be able to last long in the ring. For example, unlike other traditional combat sports, it is allowed to fight with knees and elbows while the opponents are in a clinch position.

Besides being a professional combat sport Muay Thais is becoming a part of many recreational programs both in Thailand and all over the world. This comes as a result of the effectiveness Muay Thai has when it comes to improving self-confidence, lowering the stress, helping lose weight (because of the long and active trainings). Thai boxing can be practiced by both men and women.
These things make Muay Thai more than a simple combat sport.
