What’s that again? McDonalds?! Yep. Hong Kong will be the first city in the world to roll out McDonald’s nuptial packages for couples starting January 1 next year.
The package has all the details to attract a wedding banquet cynic or a Golden Arches obsessive: a baked apple pie wedding cake, dress made out of party balloons, kiddie party favors for guests, and of course, catering by McDonald’s.
Alcohol is banned to make sure there would not be drunk party guests acting inappropriately at the family venue, so newly weds will have to toast their union with soft drinks instead. Glad to know they have that rule.
The cost will be a few thousand Hong Kong dollars, depending on what guests order on the spot. It is unlikely that the couple will be able to book the entire restaurant for their wedding, but at that price, who cares if there are babies screaming in the booth next doors?
The idea came about when one couple who met and dated at McDonald’s held their wedding party at the Admiralty branch this year, according to McDonald’s Hong Kong director of corporate communications and relations Helen Cheung.
McDonald’s Hong Kong will also be accepting bookings for engagement parties and wedding anniversary parties starting today. McDonald’s nuptial parties are only available at their Admiralty, Mei Foo and Smithfield branches for the time being, but the management will consider other venues if feedback is enthusiastic.
I guess if people are also more conscious on budget, McDonalds offers a cheaper alternative than the lavish hotels that people have come to expect. (Photo by McDonalds HK)
My hubby’s friend uploaded his photos of my wedding 2 months ago. He had been pretty busy that’s why he wasn’t able to upload them right away. I had been pretty busy because I am resigning from my job next week. Applying for a new job and hopefully if my sideline job application gets accepted, I can just to work at home and, of course update my blog anytime. Good luck to my job hunting lolz. My wedding day came and I was supposed to keep on smiling till the day would end. Once I got out
of the hotel (Parklane Hotel), I was surprised at the flowers that laid rest on the wedding car. I couldn’t even call them flowers. I was so angry. To think that in our reception package we did away with the floral centerpieces so the hotel had already saved on that and they couldn’t even give us a decent set of floral arrangements for the car? My face was pretty evident in our wedding video. I laughed when I saw my face all grumpy (and wondered why my hubby’s cousin included that part in the video). Parklane’s service had a lot of flaws during our reception and even accomodation. If we were laxed about everything, thing could had gone awry very bad so it was a good thing even while the reception was on, we were still attentive of our preparations and all. The only plus side with the hotel was the food because they were delicious. Well, naturally, since we were the ones who selected every dish, appetizer and dessert for the whole buffet. Still, even until now, those flowers are still etched in my mind. Time can only tell when I can get over this one and move on haha.
